What is wrong with you Gerber?

So I actually got my hands on the "Scout" model of Bear Grylls knife. Picked one up on sale for a gift. First one was missing a screw in the pocket clip. Took that back. Second one is so horrible off center when the blade folds in that it catches on the rubber liner-less interior and has to be forced back in and even then does not enclose entirely. I'm not taking the second one back. I'm going to see how Gerber's "warranty" is. Let's see how they compare to a quality company like Leatherman.

It's a real shame, too. Because it's actually not a half bad knife for a kid. The one I returned the first time actually worked flawlessly minus the missing screw on the pocket clip. Was actually so hyped on how good it was for a beginner and aimed towards kids that I was going to do a video. No, no videos. It doesn't warrant one.

Your move, Gerber....or should I say Fiskars. I mention the parent company of Gerber "Legendary" Blades because I own a lot of Fiskar's products. Scissors, pruning shears and so on and they're great. Why can't you make Gerber the same?

I have to say...I used to be a Gerber guy. My LMF II is a nice knife. But, that is the last Gerber I will probably buy. I really don't care for the fact that they won't tell you what steel they are using. And, the whole BG line seems a big sellout. It's really too bad.

The Gerber sliding saws though are a completely different story though. They're great. Those, I will keep buying.
