Outstanding Deals at Wal-Mart.

Every year from the week before Thanksgiving to days after Christmas I scour Wal-Mart like some....scouring.....thing that scours. Most years I come across some really great deals on otherwise middle of the road gear. Knives mostly. Usually Leatherman. This year though? Sheesh. Good year...Good year...

I went by the local Wally World and snapped a few shots with my iPhone. I neglected to take a picture of a previous Gerber knife set (Two knives. One a copy of a Kershawk Leek, the other a Buck Strider) I got for a gift exchange, but the pictures I did get are of the good stuff. As you can see I'm still at war with Gerber. Sort of.

First up we have the Kershaw "Crown." Usually retails at Wal-Mart for around $19.95 to $24.95. Tons of them for $10. The neat thing is I've never seen the "Crown" in blue. If it's a limited thing, which Kershaw sometimes does (The "Chubby" especially) then this is a nice collectors piece for the Kershaw fan. The "Crown" is a nice EDC blade for gentlemen.

Next up is the Kershaw "Select Fire." Basically your standard folding knife plus "kit kit." I've never had any experience with this particular model. Looks a bit utility knife niche market aimed. Still pretty cool. In both black and blue. And before you ask....I checked....no orange. I would've so gotten an orange. Again $10.

Next up is one of two (2 knives in each) gift tins Buck is selling for $20 each. This particular one looks pretty nice. Labels say Ebony and Burlwood. One a very nice one handed gentleman's folder and the other a nice "stockman" style knife. Obviously they're the overseas made Buck's (I didn't see anything on them denoting where overseas) but it's still Buck.

Next up is something I've never seen before. A similar duo, but with zytel/FRN scales from their "Boone and Crockett Collectors Series." Not bad, not bad. Two solid looking lock back knives. Good for the boys out there who want a knife for the holidays. Again overseas no doubt, but still Bucks.

Finally we got a duo of really good deals by SOG. First is their "Fasthawk" tomahawk styled....something. I'm not quite sure what SOG is going for with this design. Lighter more chic and tacticool looking version of a hatchet. I won't lie. I'd probably use one if I had one. Again just $20. I didn't notice any sheath for the head, though.

Lastly a really cool find. The SOG "SOGFari Machete." Your typical machete with a saw back. Not bad, not bad. I didn't check to see if it had a sheath either. I'm sure this would come with it even at this price. A must for anyone who likes to trail blaze or simply just keep the garden in ship shape.

I'm pretty impressed with this years special offers. No to mention Wal-Mart is selling some AR's (Rifles for you non-gun folks) for $395.95 in limited numbers. My Wal-Mart had only one in stock. I was hoping to see the Leatherman "Wingman" and "Sidekick" in stock by now, but alas no...

So if you're looking to shop for a friend, family member or....well yourself? These are some pretty neat finds.

Damn, now i have to go to Walmart.

But.....was at Home Depot today........wingman!

Not my cup of tea, but for the " i have to have every damn MT out there" go for it!

I love leatherman , but the wingman is just to basic for me personally

For what it's worth, the zytel Mini Bucks are made in the USA. I have four or five of them.

I was gonna add what others have said, that the Boone and Crockett set is probably made in USA, as the Mini BuckLite I bought to replace one I had many years ago is still made here, tho not quite the same degree of quality that I remember for the little knife.
